Rococo Revival | Eastlake Hardware
A pair of solid-cast brass double wall hooks, crafted in America circa 1880–1900. Each hook has scrolling acanthus-leaf arms, capped by delicately cast rosettes that nod to Rococo Revival and Eastlake aesthetics. Originally sold through architectural catalogs and regional supply houses, these hefty, through-bolted hooks would have graced the halls of well-to-do homes, offering guests a refined perch for cloaks, hats, and umbrellas. Today, they’re the perfect finishing touch for a reclaimed-wood hall tree, a bespoke mudroom vignette, or as standalone hooks on a paneled wall bringing both functionality and narrative charm to any modern space.
Condition:
Both hooks retain their original patinated finish, exhibiting a warm bronze-brown surface flecked with hints of green oxidation in the recesses. The relief details on the acanthus leaves and rosettes remain crisp, with only minor edge-wear consistent with age and gentle use. The long, threaded mounting shanks and coordinating nuts are present and fully serviceable—no bending or distortion noted. Light surface scratches and tiny pit marks testify to over 120 years of service but do not detract from their structural integrity or visual appeal. These hooks are ready to mount and enjoy just as they’ve been for more than a century.
