Antique English Silverplate Wine Coaster
Antique English Silverplate Wine Coaster

A English silverplate on copper wine coaster, circa 1830 to 1870, with a pierced neoclassical gallery decorated with alternating portrait medallions, sunflower rosettes, husk garland swags, and vertical reeding, finished with rope-twist borders top and bottom, and fitted with a turned dark-stained wood base.
The coaster is in good antique condition overall. The silverplate retains good coverage across the pierced gallery with expected tarnish and wear consistent with age, and areas of copper show-through visible at the relief details and along the rope-twist borders — normal for silverplate of this age and not distracting from the piece. The gallery structure is sound with no dents, splits, or losses to the pierced work. The turned wood base is solid and fits the gallery properly. The green baize on the underside is original but heavily worn with significant staining including a red stain and white spotting across much of the surface — the baize is largely intact but in poor cosmetic condition. The central screw boss on the wood base is present and intact.
