Condition

The exterior of this box is in excellent condition for its age. The kingwood herringbone veneer on the sides and the two-tone marquetry lid panel are intact across all surfaces with no visible lifting, losses, or repairs. The brass corner guards, lid edge molding, hinges, and lock escutcheon are all original and in place. The original key is present with its silk cord and tassel.

The interior shows age-appropriate wear. The off-white fabric lining is stained throughout, most visibly on the lid panel and the base of the bottle compartment. The three original glass bottles with gold star decoration are present. The left bottle retains its original faceted glass stopper and is fully functional. The center bottle stopper is broken, with a fragment remaining in the neck. The right bottle stopper appears to be adhered in place and cannot be removed; its condition beneath is unknown. The bottle bodies themselves show no visible cracks or chips. One star gilt detail is partially worn on the left bottle. The small inset mirror panel is present and intact.

This piece is sold as a decorative object. The exterior is the primary draw.
