These French serving dishes wears a garland border in dark green, husk swags tied with ribbon bows and hung from small rosettes, the Louis XVI decorative language the Salins pottery printed under the pattern name Guirlandes. The long boat shape was made for pickles, olives, or small condiments, set out alongside the larger pieces of a table service. Two of the three carry the printed factory mark. All three came from the same pattern.
The three dishes are in good condition with no chips, cracks, or hairlines that I can find. Each shows age spotting in the glaze, small scattered specks that sit under the glaze surface rather than on top of it. This is a normal sign of age in French earthenware of this period and is not damage. There are some very light surface scratches in the wells, consistent with gentle use over the years. The green transfer decoration is crisp and well preserved on all three.
The mark is not identical across the set. Two dishes carry the full printed R&A Salins Guirlandes cartouche on the underside. The third carries only the impressed SALINS factory mark, with no printed cartouche. All three are the same pattern, the same form, and the same size, and read as a set. Please review all photographs closely, as they form part of this description.
