Antique English mahogany chest of drawers, two short drawers over two long, with satinwood crossbanding, boxwood stringing, and fan-inlaid spandrels. A Regency piece from around 1810 to 1820, the kind of well-proportioned chest that works as a bedroom chest, an entry piece, or under a window with a lamp and a stack of books. The figured mahogany drawer fronts and the pale satinwood banding give it more dress than a plain country chest without tipping into formality.
This chest has been refinished and carries a French polished surface that has been refreshed over its life; it is not the untouched original shellac. The color and figure of the mahogany are rich and even. The top shows several small dark filled or burn-type marks and a few shallow divots in the mahogany, most visible in raking light, along with light surface scratching consistent with age and use. There are losses to the satinwood crossbanding at two of the top corners where the banding has chipped away. The drawers run on pine linings and retain their hand-cut dovetails; the pine backboards are intact. At the back of the case there is a later structural repair: modern hex nuts and a bolt through a backboard, together with a later brass repair plate, not visible from the front but disclosed here. The oval stamped brass handles appear to be a matched set consistent with the period but are not confirmed original to the piece. Locks are present at the drawers; not tested. No keys present. Sold as-is with photographs governing.

Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on the size and weight of the item. Local pickup is available at the AMD Warehouse.
All sales of antique and vintage items are final due to their unique, one-of-a-kind nature. Illuminé candles and The Collector's Guide may be returned within 14 days of delivery if unopened and in original condition.
If your piece arrives damaged, please photograph the damage immediately (including packaging), contact us within 48 hours at austynmariedesign@gmail.com, and do not discard any packaging.
