The ribbed metal plate screwed to the base is the striker, which is the mark of a better grade Victorian case. A gentleman carried his cigars and struck his match on the same object. The leather has gone a rich dark russet and the hand stitching is all still there.

Embossed to the front: the British Royal Coat of Arms with lion and unicorn flanking a crowned shield above the motto DIEU ET MON DROIT, set in an oval reading SUPERIOR above and WARRANTED below. This is a generic period trade quality mark, not a royal warrant of appointment

Good antique condition. The hand stitching is fully intact throughout and the case holds its shape. The striker plate is secure and shows genuine use. Leather has been cleaned and conditioned and shows honest wear and darkening consistent with age. Please note again that the Superior Warranted mark with royal arms is a period trade quality stamp and does not indicate the maker supplied the Crown. Please review all photographs closely, as they form part of this description.

Shipping & Returns

All antique and vintage items are shipped from our warehouse in Bluffdale, Utah. Each piece is carefully packed by hand using archival materials and custom crating when necessary.

Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on the size and weight of the item. Local pickup is available at the AMD Warehouse.

Furniture is the exception. Because of size and weight, furniture shipping is quoted separately rather than calculated at checkout. Send a DM on Instagram or email austynmariedesign@gmail.com for a quote, or arrange your own shipping from the warehouse.

All sales of antique and vintage items are final due to their unique, one-of-a-kind nature. Illuminé candles and The Collector's Guide may be returned within 14 days of delivery if unopened and in original condition.

If your piece arrives damaged, please photograph the damage immediately (including packaging), contact us within 48 hours at austynmariedesign@gmail.com, and do not discard any packaging.
