Vintage Brass Picture Frame
Vintage Brass Picture Frame

A small English brass photo frame with a cast classical border, the kind made for a dressing table or a desk in the early twentieth century. The border is the reason to look: a run of stylized leaves framed by a fine beaded rim, crisply cast and carrying a warm, even patina. It keeps its original glass and red velvet backing board, with a folding velvet-covered strut at the rear for tabletop display. I sourced it in England.
The frame is in good antique condition. The brass is clean with an even, warm patina and the cast leaf and bead border is crisp with no dents or bends. The original glass is in place with no cracks. The folding easel strut at the back is present and firm, and the frame stands as it should. The red velvet backing board shows its age: there is staining and discoloration across the velvet, a prominent pale blotch and a few small marks near the center, and edge wear to the board. The velvet board is a cosmetic surface behind the glass and could be replaced if a buyer prefers, but it is offered as-is. The frame structure itself is sound.
