Couldn't load pickup availability
A small French gilt bronze portrait frame with a broad cobalt blue enamel band, circular in form and designed to stand on its integral easel. The outer border carries a cast rope-twist molding, followed by a beaded inner border, the enamel band, a second beaded border, and a plain gilt surround at the aperture. The convex glass is present and intact. Made to hold a miniature portrait or early photograph, this type of frame was produced by Parisian bronze workshops throughout the Third Republic period, circa 1880 to 1900. No maker's mark is present.
The frame is in good antique condition consistent with age and use. The gilt bronze retains strong overall gilding with natural patination in the recesses of the rope-twist and beaded moldings. The cobalt blue enamel band is intact with no chips or losses visible; the surface shows light wear and minor surface marks consistent with age. The convex glass is present and intact with no cracks. The easel stand is functional. There are no maker's marks on the reverse or the easel strut. The backing paper or card visible through the glass shows age toning. Overall a clean, structurally sound example.
