I bought this footed serving tray, called a salver, in England. What catches the eye first is the engraved crest at the center: a demi-lion rising from a wreath, the kind of family crest that once marked a household's silver. The plain mirrored surface sets it off, framed by a fine beaded border and raised on four cast shell feet. The silver has worn down along the rim and feet to show the warm copper underneath, the quiet two-tone look that collectors and decorators actively want.

The tray is in good vintage condition with honest wear from use. The silver plate has worn through to the copper along the full beaded rim, across all four feet, and at scattered high points on the well, giving the warm two-tone look described. The engraved lion crest at the center remains clear and easy to read. The surface shows light scratching throughout and a faint stain to one area of the well, both consistent with age and use and visible in the photos. All four feet are present, sound, and original to the piece, with crisp casting detail. The form is true with no dents, warping, or structural problems. The underside carries no maker's marks or hallmarks. Sold as unmarked silver plate on copper of English origin, with dating attributed from construction and styling.
