11" H X 7" W X 6" D
Anatolian water pitcher (testi or ibrik)
likely 1940-1970s
Vintage hand-thrown Turkish terracotta jug (1950s-60s) standing 11" tall with 7" body width. Unglazed porous clay naturally cools water through evaporation. Features traditional single handle, warm ochre color, and visible wheel-thrown texture. Versatile as functional vessel or decorative piece for dried arrangements. Authentic rural Anatolian craftsmanship.
Condition:
This jug displays honest wear from decades of use. A few small chips along the rim and handle edge speak to its everyday role as a household vessel, while white mineral encrustations on the body are evidence of water storage and authentic patina rather than damage. The unglazed exterior remains structurally sound, with no visible hairline cracks or repairs. Base concentric rings are intact, showing clear wheel-thrown marks.
